TLCs 1000 lbs. sisters Season 4 continues to showcase the lives of Amy and Tammy Slaton. The first episode of the season showed Tammy being rushed to the hospital and having to have a tracheotomy to help her breathe. In season 4, episode 2, she was told that she had gained weight again while in rehab. This is what happened.
Tammy Slaton went to rehab again in ‘1000-Lb. Sisters season 4
1000 lbs. sisters Episode 1 of Season 4 focused heavily on Tammy Slaton’s scary hospital stint. At the beginning of the episode, Tammy showed that she was “tired of being sick all the time”, so she chose to go back to rehab. But she needed more immediate care. Tammy was immediately taken to the hospital where her oxygen dropped within 30 minutes of arrival.
Tammy was put into a medically induced coma and had a tracheotomy to have more direct access to oxygen in her lungs. “I had a hard time with it,” she said. “They cut your throat and they stopped like a — I call it a PVC pipe. I don’t know what else to call it. But it’s a tube, and it’s down your throat, and it’s about that long, and I get direct air, oxygen. There are things I didn’t even know could happen, like anything that gets stuck in your throat. If it gets too stuck, I have to be sucked out.”
During the episode, a doctor reveals that Tammy weighs 717 pounds – her highest weight to date.
She gained back 10 pounds in rehab despite striving for weight loss to have surgery
1000 lbs. sisters Episode 2 of Season 4 still shows Tammy Slaton’s progress in the hospital. Episode 1 revealed that she had reached her highest weight ever, but she lost a significant amount of weight since going back into rehab.
“Last time I weighed in I was 573,” Tammy told the cameras before another weigh-in. This is a difference of 144 pounds from when she weighed in in Episode 1. “And I still have to get to 550 pounds to get approved for bariatric surgery. I’m probably 10 pounds away from my goal. … If I see the numbers rise, that is one of my biggest fears.”
Tammy then steps on the scale – and it is revealed that she has gained 10 pounds since her last weigh-in. Her new weight was 583. She confirmed that this was the first time she had gained weight since her hospitalization.
“It’s frustrating,” she said. “You work so hard every day to maintain and lose more weight and you see the numbers go up again. At this point I’m done.

While Tammy Slaton discussed her weight gain 1000 lbs. sisters Season 4 Episode 2, fans noticed that she seemed to lose a significant amount of weight since the end of the season. Tammy regularly posts videos on TikTok that gave fans an idea. But she said she can’t discuss her weight loss on the platform just yet because she’s still under contract with TLC.
“I’d love to give you an update on the weight loss, but you’ll have to wait for Season 4 to come out,” she said on TikTok, according to Us Weekly. “Sorry! Just know I’m staying on track and I’m fine!”
