Queensland couple and baby daughter killed in crash with trucks near Oakey mourned by family

Family and friends have paid tribute to a couple and their baby who died in a motorway crash in Queensland’s Darling Downs, describing them as “amazing people”.

Jake Pearce, 40, Katy Tattam, 38, and their one-year-old daughter Charlie died Tuesday when their car collided with two trucks on the Warrego Highway, just outside Oakey.

A fourth passenger, a 36-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The two trucks involved were traveling in opposite directions.

The drivers of both trucks escaped unhurt.

Katy Tattam’s niece, Natty Tattam, said the Roma couple were “great parents”.

“She [Katy] was a great person, always there for anyone if they needed help,” she said.

“Always made sure her kids were okay, they were great people.

“She was my close cousin.”

Katy Tattam left behind another young daughter and Mr. Pearce had four other children.

An online fundraiser has been set up to help the family with the costs.
